WINONA, Minn. – A woman used a broom to smash a window to a backdoor of a house in the 350 block of East Lake Boulevard, the homeowner told police. When confronted, the woman said she was looking for a place to smoke her pipe, then left. Officers found the woman, who said she was cold and looking for a place to warm up. The homeowner described the woman as polite, despite the broken window, and declined to press charges. The incident was about 20:30 a.am. in a residential area in the shadow of Sugar Loaf.
