TREMPEALEAU, Wis. – A former bed-and-breakfast overlooking the Mississippi River has reopened for assisted living – named, appropriately, Over the River. Nancy Boehm, administrator, said the remodeling has avoided the institutional feel of many senior-care facilities. The goal: A classy homey ambiance. The place, at 24616 Second Street in Trempealeau, can accommodate eight residents with dementia or who simply need help with daily activities regardless of age. There are two registered nurses, house managers and resident-care attendants. There are sizable living spaces and bedrooms with large beds that, says Boehm, “anybody would enjoy waking up in.”
