ST. PAUL, Minn. — A statewide seatbelt enforcement campaign organized by the Minnesota State Patrol has begun. There have been 13 more deaths involving unbelted motorists this year compared with the last year, said Mike Hanson of the state Office of Traffic Safety. Further, he said, unbuckled drivers and speeding have caused 40 more traffic fatalities this year. The campaign goes through the traffic-heavy Memorial Day and then to June 6. Local policing agencies have signed on.
