ST. PAUL, Minn. — House Republicans named a rural member, Lisa Demuth of Cold Spring in Stearns County as their minority leader. Demuth is going into her third term in January. As minority leader she replaces Kurt Laudt of Isanti County, The past two years Demurth has been an assistant minority leader. Next month the Republicans caucus will meet again to fill out its full leadership team.

Demuth: “Minnesota has a difficult two years ahead with Democrats in complete control of state government, but House Republicans will continue to keep the focus squarely on the priorities of Minnesota families — public safety, tax relief, and keeping energy costs low. We will work with Democrats when it’s in the best interest of Minnesotans, but will not hesitate to point out when they bring bad ideas to the House floor.”
