SUAMICO, Wis. – The owner of a drone sales company, Bill Bongle, said a proposed state ban on drones manufactured by the Chinese company DJI is poorly thought out. The proposed law , he said, would interfere with police work. Half of Wisconsin police agencies use DJI equipment, Bongle noted. There is no evidence that DJI drones are a Chinese government tool to spy on the United States, he said. There are DJI competitors, he acknowledged, but he said their products generally cost more.
