WINONA, Minn. – Based on revised state guidelines, Winona Health is expanding the criteria for its walk-in clinic Thursday to additional tiers of eligibility. The clinic, however, is limited to Winona and Fillmore county residents. The expanded criteria include not only persons age 65-plus but also:
> People with specific underlying health conditions: Sickle cell disease, Down syndrome, those in cancer treatment or immunocompromised from organ transplant, oxygen-dependent chronic lung and heart conditions.
> Targeted essential workers: Food processing plant workers
> People with rare conditions or disabilities that put them at higher risk of severe illness.
> People age 45-plus with two underlying medical conditions.
> People age 16-plus with two underlying medical conditions,
> People age 50-plus in multi-generational housing.
> Essential frontline workers: Agricultural, airport staff, additional child-care workers not previously eligible, correctional settings, first responders, food production, food retail, food service, judicial system workers, manufacturing, public health workers, public transit, and U.S. Postal Service workers.
Underlying conditions
Criteria from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention:
Active cancer; chronic kidney disease; chronic obstructive pulmonary disease; diabetes Type 1 or 2; Down Syndrome; heart conditions, such as heart failure, coronary artery disease, or cardiomyopathies; weakened immune system from solid organ transplant, HIV, bone marrow disease, chronic steroids for more than 30 days, immunodeficiency disease, or taking immunosuppressive medication; obesity; pregnancy; sickle cell disease.
