ROCHESTER, Minn. – A former chair of the Federal Communications Commission. Michael Powell, has been elected to chair of the Mayo Clinic board of trustees. His term is four years. Powell is the son former Secretary of State Colin Powell. He was appointed to the FCC by President Bill Clinton and named chair by President George W. Bush. The commission regulates U.S. broadcasting. Powell succeeds Sam Di Piazza, who guided a $3.7 billion capital investment campaign that included the Epic electronic health record system.
