ST. PAUL, Minn. – The U.S. Department of Agriculture has designated parts of southwest Minnesota an agricultural disaster in due to extreme drought. Farmers in Jackson, Murray, Nobles, Pipestone and Rock counties are eligible for emergency loans. So are farmers in16 adjacent Iowa counties and three South Dakota counties. The loan program kicked in after eight consecutive weeks during the growing season.
