ROCHESTER, Minn. – A Rochester college football player, Shan Fiorenza, agreed to plead guilty to bashing a rival team’s coach at a 2021 game. Fiorennza said he would accept punishment for third-degree assault if a charge were dropped for an unrelated gun incident outside a bar this June. A judge set sentencing for January. In the football incident, Fiorenza helped beat Coach Jeff Linder of Minnesota West Community College unconscious. This was in an on-field frenzy after losing a game in October 2021. Fiorenza, age 24, has since left Rochester Community and Technical College and is not welcome back on the Yellowjackets team.
