ROCHESTER, Minn. –A Rochester man was sent to prison for 2-1/2 years for a series of crimes in June, including a knife attack on a man who had witnessed a burglary. Ivan Gonzalez, 31, did not plead guilty formally but acknowledged enough evidence to convict him. The charges grew out of several incidents, all within a week:
> Day 1: Gonzales slashed a man with a knife in a parking lot on North Broadway. The man had confronted Gonzalez after seeing him steal a bag of tools outside a northeast Rochester residence The victim suffered arm and leg cuts.
> Day 2: With an accomplice, Gonzalez broke into a southwest Rochester apartment by breaking a window and stealing a mobile device. They also broke down a door.
> Day 3: Gonzalez was arrested sleeping in a woman-friend’s car in southeast Rochester. At the time Gonzalez was under a judge’s no-contact order because of domestic abuse against the woman.
