ST. PAUL, Minn. – Former U.S. Senator Al Franken endorsed Minnesota’s lieutenant governor Peggy Flanagan to succeed Tina Smith in the Senate. Smith has been in the Senate since 2018 when Franken resigned. Franken is the 14th significant endorsement for Flanagan for the Democratic nomination for the 2026 election. Earlier endorsers included state Attorney General Keith Ellison and state Auditor Julie Blaha.
