WASHINGTON – A Minneapolis member of Congress, Ilhan Omar, a Democrat who has been demonized by Republicans since she was elected in 2020, may be ousted from her seat on the House Foreign Affairs Committee. The newly empowered Republican majority leader, Kevin McCarthy, has promised to remove Omar in retribution for her outspoken, often leftist views. McCarthy has focused on Omar comments two years ago that were viewed as antisemitic. She apologized. But McCarthy and his Far-Right majority have been gunning for her since.
