DULUTH, Minn. – Congressman ended speculation that he might seek to unseat Governor Tim by Walz in the 2024 election. Stauber, R-Duluth, said he’s content representing the large Congressional district spanning half of northern and central Minnesota. Stauber is a former professional hockey player with the Toledo Blades. He also is retired Duluth police lieutenant. He won a second term in Congress in 2020 nearly 20 points. Until now Stauber had not discouraged speculation that he might seek a statewide office. Republicans have not won a statewide Minnesota office 2006.
