WASHINGTON – Congress member Jim Hagedorn, R-Minnesota, belatedly added his name to calls for the Miken sports equipment manufacturer to keep its factory in Houston County rather than move to China. The resolution introduced in the House, to which Hagedorn signed on, also calls on Major League Baseball to buy American – including Miken bats. MLB is a partial owner of Miken. Five House members, led by Buddy Carter,R-Georgia, sponsored uhe resolution. A joint statement called Miken’s outsource jobs to China “completely outrageous.” The resolution said the MLB, as “responsible for America’s pastime,” should be an unquestionable supporter of American jobs, Earlier calls for Miken to stay in Caledonia were issued in July by U.S. Senator Tina Smith, R-Minnesota; State Senator Jeremy Miller, R-Winona; and State Representative Greg Davids, R-Preston.
