ALMA, Wis. – If Kevin Wade calls from the Buffalo County sheriff’s office, hang up and call the real sheriff’s office. Sheriff Michael Schmidtknecht says no Kevin Wade work for him. It’s a scam. It goes like this: Kevin starts by saying a DNA sample is needed. Without a sample, an arrest warrant will be issued. There are variations, but in the end, Kevin explains there is an option: Send money and the problem will go away.
