CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa. – Northeast Iowa’s member of Congress, Ashley Hinson, was discharged from te hospital after two nights being treated for a kidney infection. Hinson released a statement: “I am feeling much better, will continue resting at home, and look forward to getting out on the road to be with Iowans soon.” Hinson, a Republican from Marion, is a freshman in Congress. Her hospitalization forced cancellation pf a debate Tuesday night with her Democratic challenger, State Senator Liz Mathis. So far it’s been impossible to reschedule a debate because of prior commitments.

The Des Moines Register/Mediacom poll shows Mathis ahead 48% to 46%. With a margin of error of 7.6 points, the race is considered a toss-up.
