WASHINGTON – On a sixth vote the U.S. House failed again to elect a speaker to lead the 435-member legislative body. Majority Republicans remained split between supporters of Kevin McCarthy of California and party rebels. Democrats remained unified but, being a minority, couldn’t prevail. The Minnesota and Wisconsin delegations remained divided along party lines.
