ST. PAUL, Minn. – A project to find potentially wrongful convictions has been created by Attorney General Keith Ellison and Twin Cities area prosecutors. The Minnesota Innocence Project is the first such initiative in the state. Funding is from a two-year $300,000 U.S. Justice Department grant. The new unit will also attempt to determine frequent causes of wrongful convictions to prevent repeating such mistakes.
