CAMPBELL, Wis. – Three stores — Kwik Trip, Hy-Vee and CVS – responded to the refusal by the City of LaCrosse set up a system to distribute bottled water to people on French Island where wells are problematic because of poisoning from the LaCrosse airport. The stores set up distribution points on French Island for residents waiting for their ells to be tested. Hy-Vee will send five semi-trucks for distribution at a hotel parking lot. Another distribution is a church parking lot. Meanwhile, the Wisconsin Department of Health Services, state Department of Natural Resources, the Wisconsin National Guard and Wisconsin Emergency Management also are distributing water.

The Hy-Vee grocery chain is one of three stores providing bottled water free to French Island, where wells have been poisoned by “forever chemicals.” Hy-Vee, Kwik Trip and CVS are supplying pick-up points for water until state agencies can take over. This is at the Days Inn parking lot off Interstate 90.
