WINONA, Minn. – Let’s be charitable in explaining this: A young father perhaps had a hungry and sick child at home and no money. We may never know. We do know this: The Hy-Vee grocery store called police about 8:15 p.m. and reported that a man tucked $200 worth of baby formula and over-the-counter pharmaceuticals into his jacket and left without paying. A clerk saw him scurrying down the block toward the Dollar Tree store. By the time police arrived, he wasn’t to be found.
