EAU CLAIRE, Wis. — Three people fell through thin ice at the confluence of the Chippewa and Eau rivers at Phoenix Park and were rescued. Police were called about 3 p.m. that a child broke through the ice. By the time first-responders arrived, another child and an adult were in the water in an attempt to help. Everybody survived, police said. The episode was followed by a police warning against venturing on ice too soon.
