WASHINGTON – Senator Amy Klobuchar, D-Minnesota, is on President-elect Joe Biden’s short list for a Cabinet post, most likely attorney general. Neither the Biden transition team nor Klobuchar has confirmed numerous speculative news accounts on the possibility. Were Klobuchar named to the Biden Cabinet, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, a Democrat, would need to appoint her replacement as a senator. He could appoint himself, as governors often do. More likely, according to St. Paul insiders, would be Walz’ lieutenant governor Peggy Flanagan. Also reportedly on Biden’s short list for attorney general:

> Senator Doug Jones, D-Alabama, who recently lost his Alabama Senate seat.

> Former acting Attorney General Sally Yates.

> California Attorney General Xavier Becerra.
