LACROSSE, Wis. – The editor of the Kenosha News, Bob Heisse, has been named of executive editor of the LaCrosse-based River Valley Media Group that includes the Winona Daily News. Heisse succeeds Rusty Cunningham, who retired after 41 years with Lee Enterprises, which owns River Group. Lee also owns the enosha paper circulation 22,000 Sunday, 18,000 daily. At Kenosha Heisse headed coverage of the protests, riots and civil unrest that followed the 2020 police shooting of Jacob Blake. Heisse is a Penn State journalism graduate. Heisse was president of the national Associated Press Media Editors organization in 2012.
