WASHINGTON – A Wisconsin couple vacationing in Washington were struck by lightning and killed across from the White House at Lafayette Square. James Mueller, 75, and Donna Mueller, 74, of Janesville, had taken refuge in a grove of tree near the statue of Andrew Jackson. Two other persons were struck too but survived. The Muellers were in Washington for their 56th wedding anniversary.
Muellers. He a retired dry-waller, she a school teacher. Together first as high school sweethearts.
