FOND DU LAC, Wis. – The Fond Du Lac County prosecutor, Eric Toney, declared himself a Republican candidate for state attorney general to oppose incumbent Josh Kaul. Toney is the first to announce for the Republican primary. Toney, age 37, holds a law degree from Hamline.. He’s the incoming president of the Wisconsin District Attorneys Association. In announcing for attorney general, Toney accused Kaul as more interested in playing politics than law enforcement. Toney noted that he reorganized the Fond du Lac district attorney’s office so full-time prosecutors to handle juvenile, domestic violence and sexual assault cases. Toney said he would build on his experience as a front-line prosecutor. “It’s critical we have an attorney general who has personal experience fighting crime in Wisconsin and who will support our law enforcement. As the next attorney general, I’ll make the safety and security of Wisconsin families my top priority.” He pointed to his father having 30-plus years in law enforcement.

Toney. In third term as district attorney in his hometown.
