CULVER CITY, Calif. – A Red Wing, Minnesota, native, Chris Newman, won $20,700 on the television game show “Wheel of Fortune.” He was second place on the episode taped May 18. It was a long road for Newman even to get on the show. He auditioned twice but got pink slips, once for not smiling enough, once for calling out a letter already on the board. On a third try, Newman told his story about remission from Stage 4 melanoma in a year-long struggle. Finally he made the show.
