PAUL, Minn. – The state Human Services Department is writing $430 checks for every child eligible for nutrition assistance over the summer when school lunch programs are shut down. “The end of the school year shouldn’t leave children without access to healthy food,” said Jodi Harpstead, department commissioner. In all, $170 million is being allocated.
