TOMAH, Wis. – A Tomah man was arrested after shots were fired outside a tavern in Wilton 20 miles south of Tomah on County Road M. A State Patrol trooper arrested Curtis Goulet, 52, a few miles away. People at the tavern said Goulet had been involved in a minor disturbance shortly before midnight and went to his truck, retrieved a pistol, and fired two shots. About 10 minutes after a 911 call, a State Patrol trooper tried to stop Goulet’s truck, but he kept going – even after tire deflation devices were used. When Goulet finally stopped at his house in Tomah, he was taken into custody. Goulet was jailed on tentative charges of attempted homicide; recklessly endangerment of public safety; firing a gun while intoxicated; driving while impaired, a third such offense; fleeing an officer; and disorderly conduct. Investigators found bullet holes in the tavern wall and a nearby building.
