EAU CLAIRE, Wis. — A man’s body was recovered from the Chippewa River after he refused police calls to wade to shore but refused and kept going deeper. Police had been responding to a fight on Galloway Street about 2:30 a.m. The man had been involved in the fight nut fled, police said. The body aws found just below the Haymarket Landing. The man’s name was not released immediately.
