WINONA, Minn. – A Winona man, apparently a squatter in a house converted to apartments, was removed by police and referred to the county attorney for possible burglary and drug charges. Police found Brett John Dennis, 36, in a laundry room with what seemed to be transient clothes, although police said he denied the clothes were his. Police noticed a small plastic bundle dangling from his shirt. The bundle’s contents tested as 0 .37 grams of meth, police said. How Dennis got into the locked laundry room wasn’t clear, hence the possible burglary charge. This was about 7:55 a.m. in the 100 block of Wabasha Street.
