WAUKON, Iowa – Three-term mayor Pat Stone was arrested on a child abuse warrant involving his two banged-up and bruised children. Stone, 42, posted bond and was released pending more court hearings. One criminal count dated to March when there was a complaint. Stone was asked to bring a child in for a welfare check. A hospital examination found visible marks on the child. A special prosecutor was appointed to investigate. Two months later, in May, another child was evaluated at the hospital for child abuse. Marks were found on the arms, neck, an eyelid, and an ear.
