OSHKOSH, Wis. – Wisconsin-based Oshkosh Corporation won a contract to build the next-generation U.S. Postal Service mail-delivery vehicle. The contract calls for 50,000 to 165,000 vehicles. The contract starts with $482 million for retooling and expanding the Oshkosh factory. The Postal Service plans to replace its existing fleet over 10 years. The new vehicles have more capacity for the growing volume packages from online retailers. Some of the first new vehicles will have gasoline power but will retrofitted to electric systems in later.
