DECORAH, Iowa – A Cresco man was charged for a July 5 collision with a haybine that seriously injured himself and two others. The haybine was being pulled by a tractor. Gannon Willie, 22, had to be extricated from his vehicle and flown to a La Crosse hospital. A passenger suffered two skull fractures. Another passenger underwent surgery in Rochester for tendon and ligament damage in her left arm. A third passenger suffered internal bruising on the chest and hips from the seat belt. Investigators said that an open bottle of whisky was in the wreckage of the SUV and that a test of Willie’s urine showed meth. The collision occurred southwest if Cresco 210th Street west of County Road W14.
