MILWAUKEE, Wis. – The city Fire and Police Commission demoted Police Chief Alfonso Morales for numerous decisions, including an order to officers to use tear gas and pepper spray to disperse protesters demonstrating over George Floyd’s death. Morales had been chief 2-1/2 years. He was demoted to captain. Morales relationship with the Commission had been become increasingly rocky with new questions about policing Black communities.
