ELOY, Ariz. A Minnesota woman, herself a veteran skydiver, died in a freefall jump in the Arizona desert. First-responders were unable to revive Ann Wick, 55. Friends in Stillwater said Wick was a nurse with a passion for skydiving and who encouraged others to take up the adventure sport. She had completed 267 jumps. Police said witnesses reported the freefall phase of Wick’s dive appeared normal. Her parachute deployed as expected, witnesses said, although the canopy was turning. Wick took no corrective action nor did a reserve parachute open, the witnesses said. The accident was about 4 p.m. from a plane in the Skydive Arizona fleet out of Eloy, midway between Phoenix and Tucson.
