STOCKTON, Minn. – The mother of a man released by Russian forces after 10 days of captivity said he’s been in touch.”It was like angels were singing to me hearing his voice,” Tina Hauser of Stockton said in an interview with television station KTTC. Tyler Jacob, 28, a Winona native, was a school teacher in Ukraine when he was detained. Hauser said her son now is in a NATO country. Separately Jacob’s Ukrainian wife and child have been extricated from decimated southern Ukraine. The family is reunited, Hauser said. She didn’t offer details except that the U.S. State Department and Minnesota Senator Amy Klobuchar were instrumental. About her son’s condition Hauser said that he’s exhausted but finally able to get a good night’s rest. She said his wife and child are in good spirits. Now the U.S. Embassy in the Jacobs’ temporary host country is arranging visas to relocate in the United States. “We’re one step closer to moving on and getting things situated again for him,” his mother said.
