MADISON, Wis. Gov. Tony Evers called up the Wisconsin National Guard to help run next week’s primary election. Because of the coronavirus, the state is short about 900 poll workers. Poll workers tend to be pensioners, who are especially vulnerable to the virus and have decided to stay home. Guard members will be in mufti, Evers said. The governor also activated the Guard in April for the state Supreme Court election and in May for a special Congressional election in northern Wisconsin.
