MADISON, Wis. – A Milwaukee television station WISN, unearthed a stealth Republican role in the campaign to put Black rapper Kanye West on the Wisconsin presidential ballot as an independent. A WISN reporter spotted a long-time Republican operative, Lane Ruhland, scurrying petitions for a West candidacy into the state Election Commission office. Asked at the office entrance what she was doing, Ruhland said: “No comment.” Analysts said the video was evidence of a Trump campaign ploy to sway Black voters away from Democrat Joe Biden in the presidential battleground state of Wisconsin. West, who has no political experience, has been an ally of Trump, , a Republican, who is lagging behind Biden for support among Black voters. Most of the West petition drive has been in Milwaukee, which has the state’s largest Black population. which, according to polls, leans heavily Joe Biden.
