WINONA, Minn. – The Winona Historical Society launched a $180,000 fund-raising project to see the museum through the coronavirus crisis. Genia Hesser, director, said it takes $30,000 a month to operate. Eighty percent of revenue comes from research fees, the gift shop, donations, tours, admissions, programs and events, and facility rental. “All this income ceased in mid-March.” Hesser said the society hopes that six months of operating capital will be available through emergency grants, crisis loans and cost saving.
