LOS ANGELES – A new study found that Minneapolis police officers used physical force against suspects more than 1,000 times in 2022, one of the highest per-capita rates in the nation. The rate was about the same as in 2020 — the year that George Floyd was murdered by a four-officer squad led by led by now-imprisoned Derek Chauvin. The new study was from the California-based. nonprofit group Mapping Police Violence, which drew on records of urban police departments nationwide. The rate in St. Paul was slightly higher than Minneapolis.
