DELAFIELD, Wis. – Republican Kevin Nicholson, who labeled himself a “conservative warrior” in glitzy television commercials, ended his campaign for Wisconsin governor. The only way forward, he said, was to go negative against other Republican candidates. “While our team has the capability to do that, that is not something I want to do – nor do I believe that it would be good for the party,” he said. Nicholson’s withdrawal leaves these GOP candidates against incumbent Democrat Tony Evers:
> Adam Fischer.
> Rebecca Kleefisch.
> Tim Michels.
> Timothy Ramthun.
Nicholson had emphasized his experience as a Marine who knew combat. Nicholson called himself a political outsider, which he said was what was needed in Madison. His day job: A management consultant for financial institutions. In 2018 Nicholson ran for the U.S. Senate. He lost to Democrat incumbent Tammy Baldwin.
