WINONA, Minn. – The Winona State University project to help staff Co-Vid vaccination sites with nursing students will make a “huge difference,” Winona County’s emergency management coordinator said. “When we get into doing large-scale vaccinations, we’re going to need all the help we can get,” Ben Klinger said. About 160 students are being inoculated and trained by the university’s nursing faculty to administer vaccines and observe for adverse reactions. The students also are taking ]public health roles to educate fellow students as well as community populations about the necessity of vaccination. Having students ready to jump in will allow the county to “ramp things up quickly” as vaccines arrive in coming weeks, Klinger said.
