OSHKOSH, Wis. – The truck manufacturer Oshkosh, which has built 15,000 JLTV armored vehicles since 2005, has lost a bid to build a second generation. The Defense Department announced in Washington that a new contract will go instead to AM General for 20,600 JLTVs. It’s an $8.6 billion deal for the beefy $344,00 armored battlefield mainstays, known formally as Joint Light Tactical Vehicles. AM General will build them in Indiana
