LEWISTON, Minn. – The effect of the pandemic has been less severe than expected on the injection-molding firm PlastiCert, according to Craig Porter, president. Porter said he rewrote his budget downward in March assuming a 40% revenue loss. Now he’s projecting a decrease of only 25%. In an interview with the Winona Post, Porter said that employees were busy through the pandemic, then things slowed over the summer, then picked up this fall. Porter’s confidence is reflected in new spending on equipment to stay competitive. “We’re spending money to improve ourselves,” he said. Even so, PlastiCert isn’t hiring much. “We haven’t really needed anybody with the slight downturn in production.’ Also, he said, it doesn’t seem like many people locally are looking for work.
