WINONA, Minn. — Police intercepted a suicidal woman walking in a traffic lane on the Mississippi River bridge to Wisconsin. The woman age 63, had been reported to the police dispatcher as an endangerment to traffic and herself. This was about 9:15 p.m. When officers arrived, the woman said she wanted to end her life and kept walking. Officers caught up and persuaded her to come with them. She was taken to the hospital for evaluation. At their peak the bridge’s road surfaces are 60 to 70 feet above the main channel.
