BROOKLYN CENTER, Minn. — A black motorist was shot dead by police in an afternoon traffic stop in this northwest Minneapolis suburb. Daunte Wright, 20, was being stopped for an outstanding misdemeanor warrant but drove on several block and then ran into another car, police said. When police attempted to take Wright into custody, he got back in his vehicle to drive away, which, according to the police account, was when an officer fired. A woman in the car was taken to as hospital with injuries. No one in the car that was stuck was hurt.
