MADISON, Wis. – The Wisconsin Department of Justice has received more than 100 reports of abuse by clergy and faith leaders since opening a statewide inquiry in April. Some reports list multiple abuses, some aren’t related to any religious organization, Attorney General Josh Kaul said. Kaul said that details will not be released until the staff sorts out facts. Meanwhile, he asked citizens to report incidents to add to the review. “We had heard prior to launching this inquiry from survivors of clergy abuse that they thought that a review was critical,” said Kaul. Kaul gave his stat us report at a news conference. With Kaul were members of the family of Nathan Lindstrom, who have pushed for an investigation of sexually abuse by a Norbertine priest in the 1980s when Nathan as a student at Notre Dame Academy in Green Bay. Nathan died by suicide in 2020. He was 46.
