WINONA, Minn. – Elita Mary Telles, 89, of Winona, who was bestowed recognitions as distinguished teacher by the International Reading Association, died at Benedictine Saint Anne nursing home. She was a 1950 grad of Cathedral High School in 1950. She was a grad of the College of Saint Teresa in elementary education in 1971. She also studied at Winona State University, Saint Mary’s College, College of Charleston, and the Chicago Arts School. During 24 years with the Franciscans of Rochester, she taught in Austin, Sleepy Eye, and Rochester. She also taught in Chicago, where she was secretary for the Diocesan Reading Association.
