UTICA Minn. – Nicholas “Nick” J. Thein, 77, of Utica, whose family moved to Winona when he was 3 and to John’s Coulee in LaCrosse when he was 8. died at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in communications. He lived in Maryland 40 years, working for the phone company, Home Depot, and Aberdeen Proving Grounds. He moved back to Minnesota in 2011.
