PINE ISLAND, Minn. – Firefighters used high-pressure water to quell a grass fire northwest of town on White Pines Road Southeast near East White Bridge Road. A caller reported a fire in a ditch spreading up a hill toward a field. It was a rare winter grass fire that started apparently in a small pile of garbage. The fire took 10 minutes to put out. This was about 9:30 p.m.
